The region of Palestine was part of Ottoman Syria under Ottoman rule until the First World War. In 1916, during the Great War, Britain conquered the region. After the war (1918), France and England created the current borders of Syria, Lebanon and Iraq on the territory it had administered Ottoman Empire. In the area that became vacant, the League of Nations created the British Mandate of Palestine, until 1948, when the UN agreed to the division of the British Mandate into two states, one Jewish and one Arab, approximately equal extension. After the British withdrawal, the Jews proclaimed the independence of State of Israel in May 1948, while the Arabs did not accept the deal and went to war two days after the proclamation of independence of the Jewish state. The Arab-Israeli war, the first of a series, culminating in an armistice in 1949, which was result in the enlargement of territory Israel and Transjordan (which annexed the West Bank). Egypt in turn kept the Gaza Strip .

The Government of Israel is building a physical barrier , citing security concerns, and whose path has been several complaints to the International Court in The Hague, while Israel's Supreme Court has overturned several additions and changes introduced on its path. Most of the colonies and settlements are on the Israeli side of the wall, which leads to a complicated plot with many compliments, as a result Palestinian territory is fragmented, with numerous Israeli checkpoints between the various Palestinian sections.
In reviewing all matters concerning the conflict between Israel and Palestine, the latter still not recognized as a state, I find that positions are split, however, the criticism is that civilians continue to suffer the consequences of the violence of the conflict.

Israel for its part has a theocratic politics and exclusive "homeland of the Jews." This is reaffirmed in the unfinished building of the physical barrier that separates many Palestinian villages, which are falling under Israeli rule.
